Cat Caught Ruining Owner's Christmas Tree in Hilarious Clip

A cat named Vhee has left the internet in stitches after a clip of her jumping inside her owner's Christmas tree went viral on social media.

The video, shared on TikTok on November 7 by the owner, with the username alexandra_and_vhee, shows the cat jumping into the newly decorated Christmas tree.

The pet gives her owner a look as if to say, "what are you going to do about it," as the choice of audio that accompanies the clip suggests.

According to the Blue Cross charity, many young cats and kittens love to climb trees and are naturally intrigued by anything new, bright and sparkly, so they're probably going to be attracted to a Christmas tree covered in decorations in the corner of your living room. But, besides ruining your tree, this behavior can pose health hazards for your pet.

A Christmas tree, whether real or artificial, can be dangerous if your cat has a tendency to climb things they shouldn't.

Some real Christmas trees produce oils that are mildly toxic if consumed, causing minor irritation to a pet's mouth and stomach. The same goes for any fertilizers or plant food on your tree if it's potted, as many are toxic to cats and can seep into watering trays.

There is also a very small risk that sharp pine needles can cause internal damage if swallowed, and in extremely rare cases, they can also get into the eyes or ears.

To "cat-proof" your tree, you should avoid tinsel, which can cause serious illness if ingested due to the blockages it can cause; get a heavy base; tether your tree to the wall or ceiling, so your cat can't knock it over; and cover any exposed wires leading to the tree with plastic or cardboard tubes.

The viral clip quickly attracted cat lovers from across the platform, receiving more than 626,900 views and 129,900 likes.

One TikToker, Giuliana, commented: "the eyes just peaking through," while Blonde posted: "The best decoration on or in the tree."

Corinne wrote: "A+ for the commitment and the stare after. Beautiful addition to the tree."

Rodriguezjessyca222 commented: "Not me looking where it jumped in looking for eyes until I looked HIGHER and seen the whole face." And Jen posted: "[Oh] Christmas tree, [Oh] Christmas tree your ornaments are history."

Another user, Zachary Ware, wrote: "my cat did this and bent the branches on my tree, now I have huge gaps in it." And Julie Karns commented: "Welp, he didn't knock it over....silver linings."

Wyx.bee posted: "I had a cat who used to take a flying leap off the kitchen counter and bodyslam into the Christmas tree like she was a WWE star," while teddy's added: "it's impossible to stop tabby cats from acting up. They're cheerful destroyers."

Nic commented: "and this is [why] I have a light-free pencil shaped 5ft tree."
