Female football coach Christina Nicassio, 27, stabbed her DAD to death claiming she was inspired

A FEMALE football coach allegedly killed her dad after being inspired by the film The Mummy Returns.

Christina Nicassio, 27, from Pennsylvania, felt like her “world was ending” because of a recent split with her fiancé and began acting irrationally, local station WPXI reported.

Her parents tried to get her to a hospital, but she resisted and instead stabbed her father Dr Anthony Nicassio twice in the chest, police said.

Dr Nicassio was pronounced dead at the scene of the family's home in Plum Borough, Pennsylvania around 3:10am on Saturday.

Cops shortly arrested Christina - who had worked as a head coach and personal trainer at the Allegheny Force Football Club.

During a police interview, Christina claimed she “got played by Hollywood” and killed her dad because “in a movie, someone who can’t love someone else, they stab their father."

When asked to clarify, she identified the film as The Mummy Returns starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, officials said.

It is unclear what scene Christina was inspired by in the 2001 sequel of the 1999 fantasy film The Mummy.

In the original movie, an Egyptian pharaoh is stabbed to death by his concubine after he discovers she was having an affair with his priest.

But the character is the Pharaoh’s bodyguard and mistress, not his daughter.

According to an affidavit cited by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, she told cops: “I don’t know why, I thought he had to die."

Christina was a defender on the University of Pittsburgh’s football team from 2007-2009 and a four-time Student-Athlete Scholar Award winner where she coached a team of 16-year-old girls.

Allegheny Force Football Club president Jamie Holt told the Pittsburgh Post: “She seemed like a pretty nice person and kids loved her. It’s kind of shocking to us to wake up this morning and hear that.”

Christina and her ex-fiancé, who appears to be a professional boxer, frequently showcased their affections on social media.

She posted two snaps of her proposal on Facebook in August last year, picturing him on one knee and another of the pair sharing a passionate kiss on a scenic cliff-side.

Christina remains in custody and faces charges of homicide and possessing instruments of crime.

Her dad, an internist and primary care physician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center,  was described as a "dedicated and skilled physician who devoted his life to compassionate care of his patients,” according to a statement from the hospital.
