Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM 1973-2009
Twenty-two year old model Hayley Wood had been in a relationship with Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM since October 2008. The couple split within the past few weeks after spending time in France. Sadly, DJ AM died of a drug overdose on Friday afternoon, August 28, 2009 at his apartment in New York City.
The recent breakup reportedly left Goldstein an emotional wreck who had been battling post-traumatic stress after the plane crash last year and was also reported to be suffering from a condition known as ‘survivor guilt‘.
Goldstein, 36, was discovered face down and shirtless at 5:30 p.m. in his 7th floor SoHo apartment after authorities were asked to do a welfare check at the urging of a friend who was concerned that something might be wrong. The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office removed DJ AM’s body at 11:30 p.m. Friday night – see photos below.
DJ AM had thrown out the first pitch at Citi Field last Sunday, prior to the Mets game in NYC and had recently finished shooting an MTV reality show where he offered a hand up to drug addicts on Gone Too Far – see video footage below.
Hayley Wood was photographed leaving Goldstein’s apartment, looking distraught and being led away from the death scene by two unidentified men.
